As time passed, I continued painting, drawing, copying by eye a variety of
inspirations such as surrealistic rock album covers of the 70’s, still life’s
from museum masterpieces, female nudes, and many sculptures.
In my teens, while in school, I stepped away from art to get a job to help
out my mother financially. She was not happy, but it was necessary. Almost
twenty years later, while pursuing a business degree, taking law classes, and
raising my own family, I decided to enroll in some art classes. Feeling this
dormant creativity within me, I really didn’t know if I had anything to offer
except a lot of rust. Well, I was floored. Not only by how challenging, well
versed and respected the art professors were, but also by the commentary of my
work. I was sincerely flattered. Several of professors strongly encouraged me
not to pursue becoming an attorney, but instead to create art as a career.
Conversely, my law professors urged me to become an attorney. Having a strong
passion for both fields, in short, art stood out, and become my choice.
Now here I was, full circle, from a young child to an adult, I don’t know
what to call it: divine intervention or destiny, but getting back to art and
raising a family was a little daunting at first, but I am happy to say, I love
what I am doing and it has worked out exceptionally well.
The style of art I create is unique, exotic, and absolutely one-of-a-kind.
Derived both from the heart and soul. It infuses a feel of cool, clean, sultry
and swank. Although there are many styles of art I enjoy and respect, I love the
movement and what I feel from the creative and boundless form of abstract art.
Inspiration also comes from my Cuban background. The appreciation of family,
and memories of evocative cuisine with the scents of spices that permeate the
air. From the sultry rhythmic music which meanders in the background of daily
life. To the intoxicating sensuality of a woman’s voice, touch and alluring
ethereal beauty.
The mediums and substrates of choice are the finest quality acrylics,
specialized paints for walls, gorgeous mosaic tessare from around the world,
canvas and stone.
Lines, curves, colors, and numerous elements are infused in my art, in which
I have three specialized categories.
The first is, decorative painting in which I don’t pursue the paintings of
walls in the orthodox sense, i.e. painting a wall yellow, or beige, but treating
a wall(s) as if it is a canvas in which will turn into a painting. It may
incorporate unique forms of Venetian plaster, and textures.
The second category is abstract art on large gallery canvases. The way in
which I would paint a wall is the same way that these canvases are created. The
major purpose of using a canvas is that it is a painting in which your wall at
home will become its backdrop and that the canvas can be moved – whether you are
renovating your home or ready to trade up.
And, the third category pertains to mosaics. Classy, exotic, contemporary
elegance, gallery-style custom made mosaics are created. It can be hung just
like a painting, or affixed as permanent wall installations in any living area,
foyers, alcoves, and as beautiful backsplashes for kitchens, spas and pampering
rooms.
